This wine is a salute to the “Hunter River Burgundy” styles of old. Minimal oak influence as a result of larger format, well used barrels and fruit purity give a true expression of Hunter River Shiraz. Dark ruby with purple hues. Herbs and plummy fruit, floral lift, mineral, wet stone and more plums. The aromatics are delicate and lightly perfumed. There is depth but the wine is a little shy, hinting at the complexity that will develop with time. The palate is fine with underlying concentration. The entry is pure fruit, more raspberry than blackberry with a sweet fruited line. Luscious yet focused with acidity. The tannins are very fine. The depth of fruit will see this wine live well into the future.
